Ascorbic acid at a high concentration of 15% minimizes the amount of free radicals, which are responsible for damaging lipids and proteins, including collagen and elastin fibers, thus causing faster cell death and progressive skin aging. The product also contains marigold extract – a rich source of flavonoids and carotenoids with antioxidant and antibacterial properties, which supports the skin’s healing process. Acerola extract is a source of vitamin C and beta-carotene. Retinol is a vitamin A derivative belonging to a group of compounds known as retinoids. Once applied to the skin, it undergoes a number of transformations: first to retinal and, in the final stage, to retinoic acid. After binding to specific tissue receptors, it activates a cascade of reparative reactions. Firstly, retinol accelerates the cell renewal process, enabling dead structures (corneocytes) to be eliminated more quickly, helping to improve skin tone and reduce superficial imperfections. In addition, the skin’s basal layer is stimulated, so that the living layers become thicker. The retinol in RETINOL SHOT progressively suppresses the transport of melanin to the upper layers of the epidermis, resulting in a reduction in the size of melanocytes (pigment cells), thus eliminating the appearance of brown spots and hyperpigmentation. Retinol effectively stimulates fibroblasts, increasing their activity and accelerating cell division, thus intensifying the synthesis of proteins, such as type I and II collagen, responsible for skin firmness and density.
